Some of my work

Hydrogen UAV
Research Assistant
A professor from Arizona State University and I have been working on a radical new way to distribute hydrogen for general use. The UAV is powered by the fuel it carries using fuel cells to convert the hydrogen into electricity. It is fully autonomous and can take off and land vertically within the space of three parking spots.

TPI Composites
Engineering Intern
During my internship at TPI Composites, my main job was finding and fixing issues on the manufacturing line that were slowing down production. The factory in Iowa was switching over to a new product during my time there, so I helped iron out kinks in the system. Some of these issues were simple, but some were much more complex.

PrISUm Solar Car Club
Strategy Manager
In my senior year at Iowa State University, I took up the role of leading the strategy team. Previously the strategy team had been one person, but I wanted to see the team grow and be able to make more decisions in the design process and during the race that were more that estimations.

Senior Design
My senior design project required a small group of us to design, build, and fly a compact and portable UAV that can stay aloft for one hour with a small payload. My main role was the aerodynamic design and analysis of the vehicle. I designed the fuselage and organized the components of the vehicle then ran Star-CCM+ simulations to understand the stability and performance of the aircraft.
2017
PrISUm Solar Car Club
Aerodynamics Manager
From beginning to end, I designed the exterior ‘aeroshell’ of Eliana, PrISUm’s next solar car that will race in the American Solar Challenge 2021. The exterior of Eliana was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible while remaining a practical vehicle with a large trunk, two seats, cup holders, and an infotainment system.

PrISUm Solar Car Club
Assistant Mechanical Director
As the Assistant Mechanical Director, I co-managed all the design and construction of the solar car, Penumbra. Carbon fiber layups, roll cage design, suspension design, and battery pack design were my responsibility to maintain schedule and design requirements. In addition to management, I also designed, built, and sent the foam plugs for the vehicle out for machining and spray painting.
Personal Projects
For more than 10 years, I’ve been building, tinkering, flying, and even crashing RC airplanes and drones for fun. But I have also learned so much about DIY electronics, batteries, motors, and more that I think will transfer well into my future career.
